Springbok Nude Girls Join Apple Music’s Home Session in Spatial Audio

Apple Music announced legendary South African rock band Springbok Nude Girls as the latest addition to its Home Session program, featuring reimagined signature songs and thoughtful covers from artists across various genres.

As part of Apple Music’s Heritage Month campaign called Amaqhawe (meaning hero), the Apple Music Home Session will be celebrating the musical legacies of the South African musicians who used their voices for change, with Springbok Nude Girls the next to release their EP.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought artists back to our core of creativity, ingenuity and self-reliance. It has made us all more self-reliant. We don’t have to wait for anyone. We can do it ourselves. In a world filled with increasing digital entertainment, it has consolidated the artist’s place as still being a window to the world, the voice of reason, a celebration and sympathy for those in need,” lead singer Arno Carstens tells Apple Music.

“There are many favourite Nude Girls songs, but ‘Blue Eyes’ and ‘Genie’ solidified our future in South African music and allowed us the fortitude of making a living.”

“Johnny Clegg has been a legend within the historical relevance of South African music for as long as we can remember, and it seemed fitting to honour his legacy in such a special way by covering ‘December African Rain’,” guitarist Theo Crous tells Apple Music.

The Home Session EP, exclusively available to stream on Apple Music in Spatial Audio, will feature two exclusive unplugged tracks from the stalwart rockers, namely “Blue Eyes” off their 3rd album Surpass The Power (1999) “Genie” off their sophomore album AfterLifeSatisfaction (1997), as well as a cover of Johnny Clegg and Juluka’s “December African Rain”.
