After coming third in the second season of The Voice South Africa, Samantha Leonard locked herself in the studio and worked on what would become her debut studio album. Today, the star drops ‘‘n Duisend Keuses’ – a 13-track album which effortlessly showcases her talent.
Samantha has certainly put in a lot of work when it came to the creation of this project. She is incredibly comfortable in the sound she has decided to settle on and it shows off her brilliant vocal ability – giving some impressive performances in both her ballads and uptempo tracks. Lyrically, the star tells some heartfelt stories on the record. Samantha wrote eight of the 13 tracks on the record and Samantha has proven that she has the potential to be an all-rounder.
Naturally, Samantha is incredibly excited for the country to hear the new music she has spent months working on – especially since she worked so hard to make a solid impact with her debut offering. This led her to be rather experimental in the studio. “I wanted a bit of everything with my song choices – each song had to tell a story based on my life experiences. There are a few breathtaking ballads, a few dance tunes and also a bit of rock, giving my album that edge,” Samantha tells us. “It’s not easy to choose between these songs, each one is unique and special. My first single which is also the album title, ‘n Duisend Keuses, remains my number one choice as it’s my most truthful and personal song on the album.”
