Review: David Guetta – Listen

David Guetta
Listen (Warner Music)

Breakdown: It’s been a good few years since French DJ, David Guetta, released his amazing album ‘Nothing But The Beat’ and now, he is back with a brand new album he named ‘Listen’. The album was preceded by the smash hit ‘Dangerous’ and has already lit charts around the world up. The album features a list of collaborations from the likes of The Script, Nicki Minaj, Emeli Sande, Sam Martin, John Legend, MAGIC!, Nico & Vinz, Bebe Rexha, Sia and many more.

How Many Good Tracks: 9 of the 14.

What I Liked: If there’s one DJ who knows how to make incredible EDM music as well as commercial pop masterpieces it’s David Guetta. Each track on this album has a different flair to it and he manages to create one exciting album. The album is filled with hits. It’s clear that David put time and effort into every song on the album and demanded perfection in all aspects of the production phase. It’s definitely an album you want to add to your collection.

What I Didn’t Like: It’s weird. The album is good, but for some reason, it lacks that ‘umph’ that David Guetta had on his previous album. While the production is great, sometimes it feels as if David used some huge artists to bring popularity to a song and it doesn’t do it justice – especially since it feels as if he features on their music and not the other way around.

Best Track: Hey Mama with Nicki Minaj and Afrojack is great as well as Sun Goes Down featuring MAGIC!, Sony Wilson and Showtek.

Rating: 3/5
