Ariana Grande
Dangerous Woman (Universal Music)
Breakdown: Ariana Grande has become one of the biggest names in pop music since she broke out back in 2013. Now, three years later, the 23-year-old has dropped her third studio album ‘Dangerous Woman’ – and it’s Ariana Grande as we’ve never seen her before. The album boasts hits such as the title single as well as the current radio smash ‘Into You’.
How Many Good Tracks: 9 of the 11.
What I Liked: Although she is a pop phenomenon, Ariana doesn’t follow the rules. The album is a beautiful blend of music that speaks to her as an artist and allows the listener to get a clearer insight to who Ariana is as a person. There are hints of pop, jazz, house, hip-hop, R&B, reggae and electronic music in the tracks and it makes this an interesting piece to listen to – in a good way. I love how diverse the album is. There are the necessary pop bangers which will get her the radio airplay but the singer also shows a deeper side of herself in tracks such as ‘Moonlight’. Vocally, Ariana impresses every single time. She hits every single note perfectly and, in all honesty, she has one of the best voices in music at the moment. She has worked with the best producers, songwriters and has given her all on this record. So, it’s not surprising that Ariana has released one of my favourite albums of the year so far.
What I Didn’t Like: Besides the two tracks I didn’t enjoy and the fact that she plays it a little bit too safe on some tracks, this album is perfect!
