PinkPantheress Premieres 90s Inspired Video For ‘Girl Like Me’

PinkPantheress is marking a milestone moment, and doing it in true, left-of-centre pop fashion. One year after the release of her breakout project ‘Fancy That’, the UK star has unveiled the long-awaited music video for fan-favourite track ‘Girl Like Me’, giving new life to a song that’s quietly become a cult classic among her listeners.

Directed by Lauzza, the visual opens in an unexpected setting: a glossy talk show fronted by British TV icon Davina McCall. What starts as a tongue-in-cheek, almost surreal interview quickly unravels, pulling viewers into a rhythm-driven, dreamlike world that mirrors the track’s hypnotic production and introspective edge. It’s a clever juxtaposition — polished mainstream media colliding with the offbeat, internet-born aesthetic that has defined PinkPantheress’ rise.

The release arrives on the heels of her much-talked-about debut at Coachella, a moment that signalled a clear evolution for the artist. As Rolling Stone put it, “what Coachella witnessed was an artist transformed, but also one who is only just getting started.”

And transformed might be an understatement. Across both weekends, PinkPantheress delivered star-studded sets that blurred the lines between DJ culture, alt-pop and performance art. The shows featured appearances from Thundercat, Dev Hynes, Precious Renee Tucker, Janelle Monáe, Zara Larsson, Ninajirachi and The Dare, alongside cameo appearances from Manon, Meg Stalter, Slayyyter, Chase Infiniti and Horsegiirl. Actor Tyriq Withers also took on the role of Romeo, adding a theatrical thread to the already layered production.

If those performances marked a turning point, ‘Girl Like Me’ feels like a reflection, a reminder of the understated brilliance that got her here in the first place. Built on her signature blend of UK garage, drum-and-bass textures and diaristic lyricism, the track leans into themes of identity, longing and self-perception, all delivered with the soft-spoken intimacy that has become her trademark.

One year on from ‘Fancy That’, PinkPantheress isn’t just revisiting the past, she’s reframing it. And if this new visual is anything to go by, she’s doing so with sharper intent, bigger ambition and a clear sense that her next chapter is already in motion.
