Biggy is certainly one of the most viral pop stars to come out of the Afrikaans music space. In fact, his smash hit ‘Dames’ continues to be the ultimate party starter and radio hit. However, after the success of his latest single ‘Peanut Butter’ with Early B, the star has dropped his second studio album ‘Jong Grotes’ – and, as expected, it’s full of dancefloor ready jams.
The 16-track project includes some high-profile collaborations with the likes of Youngsta CPT, Loufi, Jack Parow and Stilo Magolide and it’s a melting pot of genres. “There are party songs, proper rap songs, songs that give you a feel-good vibe and then you can also expect something deep,” Biggy says.
The album is titled ‘Jong Grotes’ – a nickname someone gave the star when he was younger. In fact, Biggy admits that if he didn’t land on his stage name, he would have released songs under that name.
“I used to look up to the great rappers in the neighbourhood, guys like Early B, and it was only a dream to be like them, now I’m sharing a stage with him!” Biggy says as he reminisces on his incredible career so far. “I still have to pinch myself sometimes, but it has taken a lot of hard work to get here and I’m not going to quit now.”
