Jamie-Lee Sexton makes an exciting return to music this week as she unveils her brand-new single ‘It’s True’. The mid-tempo ballad is laced with an 80s synth influence and Jamie shows off her colossal vocals while sharing a powerful message on the track.
The song was written by Jamie-Lee and produced by one of South Africa’s most prolific producers Daniel Baron and serves as the first single off her upcoming EP ‘Medicine Woman’ which is expected to be released later this year.
The star explains that her new tracks are a collection of self-expression and creativity, “I needed to live a little, to have something to write about,” she says.
Her journey with Daniel Baron was an exciting one that led to producing this new body of work, “Working with Daniel was an incredible experience, he was the first producer that truly understood what I wanted to create and achieve, and I feel we accomplished just that.”
The singer has premiered the track’s official music video as well as is a colourful embodiment of the track. “I wrote ‘It’s True’ with the idea of having a date night with someone you like, love or have just met – and in our current climate, I thought this concept would be apt to use with our latest form of dating – Online Dating,” Jamie-Lee says. “The characters we chose are so beautiful and unique in their own way. I love each one’s story and how their personalities shine through. I hope you enjoy watching it, as much as I enjoyed making it.”
