I’ll be the first to admit that for many years after James Blunt dropped ‘You’re Beautiful’, I was not a fan. However, everything changed after I watched him perform live in South Africa during his Moon Landing World Tour. Not only does James have some impressive songs under his belt but he gives one hell of a vocal performance. I instantly regretted not giving him a chance which is why I am very excited to hear that after three years, the singer will be dropping his upcoming fifth studio ‘The Afterlove’ on the 24th of March 2017.
James worked with a wide range of talent when writing and recording ‘The Afterlove’ including Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran, Shannon Saunders), Johnny McDaid (Example, Biffy Clyro), Stephan Moccio (Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd) and MoZella (Miley Cyrus, One Direction).
To celebrate, James releases the album’s lead single ‘Love Me Better’ today. The guitar-driven track shows off James’ strong vocal while the production is in line with what’s hot in pop music today. The song has a subtle tropical element to it which is a surprising, yet amicable move from James. The first taste of the record sounds incredibly promising and I’m excited to see what the singer has in store on the record.
James Blunt has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and 12.8 million singles. He’s also amassed over 625 million views on YouTube and over 680 millions global streams on streaming platforms making him an incredibly successful artist. Bring on ‘The Afterlove’.
