Not since Will Linley has there been such an exciting new name in the local pop music space. Local singer/songwriter and producer, CHXRL, commands attention has he releases his new single ‘Good Enough’ in the build-up to his upcoming EP ‘hopeless&romantic’.
CHXRL started writing songs on his guitar, as well as the house’s piano, until finally broadening his horizons to music production, at the age of 15. He then released his first single, ‘To The Bone’ at 18 after writing, producing and engineering it himself, from his bedroom. This single eventually joined eight other songs to form a coming-of-age representation of his youth – his first album, ‘Autumn’.
Now, as he prepares with for his new project, CHXRL drops his new single ‘Good Enough’ – a catchy, soulful track that showcases all of the singer’s talent.
“‘Good Enough’ revolves around the constant battle with mental turmoil that holds you back in life. It’s about my struggle with dissociation and anxiety and how it sometimes can feel like, no matter what you do or try to solve it – it’s never good enough,” CHXRL tells us of his new single. “It’s about coming to terms with the fact, that even with constant external support and reassurance from family and friends, it is a battle that you have to fight, and ultimately win, on your own.”
Speaking about his upcoming EP, which drops on 8 September, CHXRL says “It’s a coming-of-age EP, a journal of the growing pains of being a careless 17-year-old to being transported to navigating your early 20s, in what feels like a blink of an eye. From losing a soulmate, bone-chilling heartbreak, internal battles with yourself, and learning to love every part of who you are.”
