The Graeme Watkins Project – You Come Running

After releasing their hit single ‘Love In Abundance’ last year, The Graeme Watkins Project are back with another banger. The group, led by former Idols South Africa contestant Graeme Watkinds, have dropped a new single which sees them step outside of their comfort zone. The track, titled ‘You Come Running’, is another high-energy single from the group with a 80’s influence – and it’s a refreshing piece of music from the group.

‘You Come Running’ is another example of just how talented this group of musicians is. Everything from the lyrics to the drums, guitar, bass and melodies are spot on. Graeme gives another fantastic vocal performance. Although Graeme lets his voice break free at various points in the song, he reigns his vocals in as he sings most of the song in a lower register than we’re used to from him, making this track something different and unexpected.

“The song is about being taken advantage of and being unappreciated during a relationship. It’s the heartache that follows when someone is absolutely committed to a relationship, but it’s clear the other person involved is not as in it as their partner,” Graeme says of the track. The group have also released an adorable animated video for the track. The animated music video was conceptualized and created by Nathan Ro of Hivemind studios, and each band member was animated into their own unique dog character which best suite their personality. The band sound incredibly comfortable on the track and although it’s not the most commercial track they’ve released, ‘You Come Running’ is the Graeme Watkins Project at their best.
