Early Hours To Showcase Their Music At Canada Music Week

Local pop group Early Hours have been doing some incredible things over the past few months. Their hit single ‘Mojito Midnight’ has been dominating the local airwaves, they’ve just released their debut EP ‘First Light’ and they have been confirmed to open for The Lumineers’ upcoming Cape Town performance on the 26th of April. However, the group has also confirmed that they’re taking their music to an international audience. Yup, the group will showcase their music at Canada Music Week later this month and, naturally, the group are really excited about the opportunity.

“It is an incredible opportunity for us to share our music with some really important players in the North American music industry. We’re honoured to be flying the flag for South African music, and even African pop music as a whole,” the band said clearly elated at the opportunity to visit the prestigious event.

When asked why they think so many South Africans have identified with their music, the group admits that “We just want to be as genuine as possible, and I think our audience really connects with that. We’re really grateful to have those people out there listening.” The group adds that their music is universal and can identify with so many on a global level. “We write about thoughts and feelings that are very personal. When you’re a young person you often believe that what you’re going through is unique — that you are the only one . But the fact is that we aren’t alone. Youth all around the world are experiencing a similar journey. A lot of people can identify with that.”

Naturally, this ability to speak to a wide audience has the group excited to see the reaction at Canada Music Week. However, as they prepare for their massive international show, the group are also working hard on their opening slot for The Lumineers – and it’s expected to be an unforgettable show. “The energy will be limitless. We’re going to be bouncing around the stage with reckless abandon, playing our songs for the people of our hometown,” the group reveal.

However, besides the massive opportunities that have arisen, the group also have a few other things up their sleeves in the coming months. “We’re all battling our way through university, hustling to make our dreams a reality after hours,” the group admits. “No doubt there will be many late nights writing both songs and essays. Researching and rehearsing. It’s tough and it’s tedious, but we’re loving every minute of it.”
