After taking over the local streaming and airplay charts with her catchy hit ‘Hart Breek’, Demi Lee Moore is back with her first release of 2024 – and it’s a beautiful love song about her husband. Interestingly enough, the song was written by seasoned songwriter Johan Oberholzer and produced by Demi Lee’s husband, Barthlo Visagie so this is another full circle moment for the singer.
“‘Net Myne’ is a song about the kind of love that can withstand anything and come out stronger. Two people who will choose each other over and over again. Two people who are so different but bring out the best in each other,” Demi Lee tells us.
Lyrically, the song mirrors an argument – but it’s not something negative in the relationship. “It’s not necessarily fighting as you would think; for me, it’s fighting for each other,” Demi Lee continues. “Arguing with the things life throws your way, avoiding the things you’re afraid of. If you do all these things together, you can only be stronger and love more. Choose each other above all.”
Demi Lee adds that she is very proud of the song and is excited for the rest of the country to hear it. “I love the song because I love love, especially when you know you’ve found ‘Net Myne’. How wonderful is that? I call it my long road love song. It will be great for long journeys, but it also reflects the long journey of love. When you have found your ‘just mine,’ you choose them over and over again, no matter the twists and turns life throws at you. As long as you always fight for each other, and it’s easy when you know it’s just YOURS,” said Demi Lee.
When asked why she decided to build on the success of ‘Hart Breek’’s country sound, she explains, “I love country music and want to incorporate it into my Afrikaans music.”
The song premieres alongside an official music video which was filmed by Eric Graham and Tehan Buys in a beautiful cottage in Magoebaskloof. “It’s basically the story of two people on a romantic weekend, capturing each other and the little moments through an old lens. The beauty in the simple things in life. Almost as if you should highlight and notice the beauty in your other half more,” Demi Lee explains. “I had a good idea of what I wanted to convey in the video, and I feel they absolutely captured my vision.”
