Local singing sensation Demi Lee Moore is back with new music as she premieres her highly-anticipated new album ‘Klein Dingetjies’, a collection of Afrikaans love songs.
The eight-track album includes the 2023 hit ‘Hart Breek’ as well as ‘Net Myne’, which was released in 2024. In addition, the album contains six brand new tracks.
The first single from the album, “Die Mooi In Jou” (The Beauty In You), which was released on Friday, March 14, was written by Marco van Deventer and Georic Lomas. The inspiring lyrics are based on a personal social media post that Demi Lee shared on her and her husband’s second wedding anniversary with the words: “Through your eyes, the sun shines every day. The beauty in you sees the beauty in me.” Demi Lee says: “I was in the studio on the day of my and Bart’s second wedding anniversary and posted those words that morning. This song is very special to me because it really describes how I feel about how Bart feels about me.”
Another highlight on the album is “Iemand Soos Jy” (Someone Like You), a duet between Demi Lee and Elandré. The song, written by the two artists, stems from a long-standing dream to work together. “She and I have been threatening to do a song together for years. Fortunately, she asked me,” says Elandré. Demi Lee adds: “He is just incredibly creative and I love him.” The song tells the story of two people waiting for each other at different times.
Demi Lee’s influence extends beyond her music. She was recently announced as the first Afrikaans female artist to be part of Spotify’s EQUAL Africa campaign, which empowers female artists from the continent and promotes their music globally. “Being part of the EQUAL campaign means the world to me. It is an honor to inspire other women in the music industry,” she says. As part of the Spotify EQUAL Africa program, Demi Lee also appears on billboards in Times Square in New York, America.
