Bruno Mars Plays Love Doctor on First Solo Album in a Decade

Nearly two weeks after Valentine’s Day, Bruno Mars is dishing out some serious heartthrob vibes with the release of his long-awaited album The Romantic.

The Hawaiian hitmaker’s fourth solo studio album, his first since 2016’s Grammy-winning 24K Magic, clocks in at nine tracks of silky R&B, soulful pop, and retro-funk flair, all wrapped in Mars’ signature charm. It’s a concise love letter to romance, blending heartfelt ballads with upbeat grooves that feel tailor-made for late-night drives or candlelit dinners.

Leading the charge is the Billboard Hot 100-topping single “I Just Might,” which debuted at No. 1 in January, marking Mars’ 10th career chart-topper and his first debut at the summit. The smooth, seductive track, co-written and produced by Mars alongside longtime collaborators like The Smeezingtonsm is still holding strong at No. 6 on the Hot 100 this week, with over 150 million streams globally. “I Just Might” sets the tone for The Romantic, exploring the thrill of new love with Mars’ effortless vocal runs and infectious hooks.

The album’s tracklist leans into vulnerability and passion, with standout cuts like the piano-driven opener “Risk It All,” the funky dance-floor filler “Cha Cha Cha,” and the title track “The Romantic,” a swooning closer that channels classic soul influences. Other highlights include “God Was Showing Off,” a mid-tempo ode to infatuation, and “You’re Mine,” a sultry duet vibe that’s already sparking fan theories about potential features (though the album is largely solo).
