3 Simple Ways To Give Your Skin That Healthy Summer Glow

We all want to have perfect, sun-kissed skin for summer. With the right highlighter or bronzer, you can create a radiant, sun-kissed look even if you’ve spent much of spring inside

I am going to share with you a few tips that you can use to give yourself a gorgeous summer glow without having to spend hours in the sun tanning or burning your skin.

Find the right shade for your skin

The truth of the matter is, this step is trial and error. You need to find a bronzer that will give you an understated glow. Play around with creams, powders and liquids until you find one that suits your skin. The best way to test these products is during the day and in natural sunlight. You will be able to see the product better during this time. Apply a small amount of product onto your jawline as well as neck area. This will help you see if the colour is going to match your skin tone.

Layer products for a natural effect

Achieving a sun-kissed skin begins with using products in a way that you might not be familiar with. Professional makeup artists from around the world use a certain technique to get the skin to look flawless and yet natural at the same time. You want to apply your highlighter and bronzer underneath your foundation. This is going to help give your skin a more natural-looking tan. Use less product below your cheekbones and other areas that do not get direct sunlight.

For lighter skin: You want to focus more on luminosity instead of sun-tanned. A dewy highlighter applied beneath your foundation on your cheekbones, Cupid’s bow and inner corners of your eyes will look gorgeous with your skin tone and will prevent you from looking overly shiny.

For darker skin: Go with a highlighter that has more of a gold tone to it. If your highlighter is too cool, then it will come out looking like ash on your skin.

Finish off the look

For a subtle effect, you want to add blush across your cheekbones underneath your foundation. If you want a more in your face look, then apply the blush on top of your foundation. Once you have applied your foundation, bronzer and highlighter, finish off your look with some a dusting of luminous powder where the light hits your face and neck area. This will add your final layer of brightness to your skin.

Fun fact: A suntan is a reaction your skin is having to the sun. They do look gorgeous and your skin looks healthy and has an awesome glow but they do fade after a while.

If you are going to tan your skin as well as use this makeup trick, there are a few things you want to keep in mind before going into the sun.
• Always wear sunscreen on your skin before you go into the sun
• If your skin starts to go red, get out of the sun because you won’t get a healthy-looking glow
• Reapply your lotion according to the strength of the sunscreen. i.e., a sunscreen that is 25 SPF, needs to be reapplied every 250 minutes. All you do is take the SPF number and times it by 100. That will tell you how often you need to reapply in minutes.

Now you can have a natural-looking, gorgeous sun-kissed summer glow without having to damage your skin in the process.

Happy summer!
