There are many festivals doing their rounds at the moment, but that doesn’t mean that there is no room for new ones. Especially if they’re as epic as Freedom Festival!

  1. Skillet, a band I’ve only recently started listening to actually, amazing band and great tunes, climbing up my list of bands everyday, but really i want the tickets because one of my best friends is a massive skillet fan and i know it would mean the world to him.

  2. This is honestly one of the best local-lineups my eyeball has laid upon in a very long time! I’m extremely excited to see The Narrow do what they do best…blow the roofs off

I’m really excited to head-bang a bit and awaken the muscle fibers who whilst resting thinking they’re on holiday (for a rock gig that seems far), are soon to realize that their summoning for a wear and tear gathering is drawing near.

You see, headbanging is an art form, and just like painting or ballet, it requires dedication, PRACTICE, and, above all, a level of enthusiasm and passion that emerges from the soul and travels through the body. That passion enables you to rise to the heights required for mastery of the art. Headbanging also requires a large amount of letting-go and a willingness to turn one’s self over to the exhilaration of just letting your body move you, instead of you always moving your body. The feeling of a good headbang is difficult to describe. It’s a high-contrast combination of rage, excitement, calm, happiness, anger, dizziness, clarity, and an otherworldly sense of power.

  3. I’m most excited to see The Airborne Toxic Event. To this day Sometime Around Midnight still gives me chills and to see that song performed live would be a dream come true.

  4. Definitely The Curious Incident! There is something about UK bands I’ve never heard of that captivates me everytime I actually get to experience their music.

  5. Hmm, I have been listening to Skillet for a good 8 years or so now, and I love them, which is intriguing because they are a christian band and I normally find that off putting, but they have gotten around it beautifully for the most part, which is pretty damn awesome!

I also love watching The Narrow…. lonely, lonely, lonely Sunday morning…., it just makes me want to jump up and down and get a little crazy for a bit, after all everyone needs to let the hair down every once in a while ☺

  6. Al Bairreee!
My cape town homies have a vibe that is both contagious and addictive, I’ve seen them so many times we’re pretty much best friends (they just don’t know it yet). I cannot waaaait to see their pretty faces again

  7. I am a massive fan of literally all the local acts and i absolutely love seeing as many as I can because I believe the quality of music in South Africa is definitely up there! Having said that I really want to see Haggis and Bong purely because I cannot get over the fact that it’s just bagpipes and drums and it manages to work! My brother and I have joked about following them everywhere but we have always wanted to see them and actually appreciate them.

On the international scene I am way too excited for Skillet as their sound is very unique and they have such a great stage presence so I’m sure they are gonna be one of the best bands to come to SA recently.

However I really want to be at this festival to headbang along to Fokofpolisiekar, bons to some Bittereinder, and just absolutely lose my tits to Skillet and Airborne Toxic Event in Pretoria and witness one of the greatest festival line ups!!!

  8. Al Baaairre!
My Cape Town homies have a vibe that is both contagious and addictive, I’ve seen them so many times we’re pretty much best friends (they just don’t know it yet)
I cannot waaaait to see their beautiful faces once again

  9. Definitely Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Skillet and Gangs of Ballet! They are such cool and talented acts and I’m sure they will be amazing live! The entire lineup is awesome! Can’t wait to see everyone live in Pretoria!

  10. I am Heaps Keen to see Shortstraw rocking it out in Pretoria. I’ve heard Keanu Reeves might even show up – let’s hope his appearance doesn’t cause any Stagefright amongst the acts. It is bound to be a good day filled with fun friends and Bikini Weather, before the sun gives us the Cold Shoulder and goes into hiding for a Good Winter.
Lately, I’ve been feeling slightly Youthless and I think all I need is One Long Day of amazing live music. Unfortunately, I don’t have Mo’ Money and can’t buy my own tickets. So please – Gimme My Fix of Shortstraw or I’ll be forced to spend the day as a Couch Potato. I am desperate for these tickets and there might be some Waterworks if I don’t win them.

  11. I can’t decide who I’m excited to see most… Skillet, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus or one of the amazing South African bands! How crazy is this line-up? I’m really keen to see The Narrow, haven’t seen them in ages. Always such a party!!

  12. Months ago on a website called Twitter, Lani the rocker searched the term ‘Skillet’ out of habit and love for this band.

She came upon a magical post containing both “Skillet” and “South Africa” in the same tweet.

Obviously thinking: “What trickery is this? It must be a scam or false hope!” she vowed not to get too excited yet, and went on a quest to discover what this “Freedom Fest” is that claims to bring her favourite band to South Africa.

11 seconds later (she has fast Internet fingers), Lani passed out from excitement at the realisation that this was not, in fact, a scam but there is actually a possibility that she could see this band live…

And so Lani went on her next quest to find the magical golden ticket that will give her the ability to unlock the great achievement of seeing Skillet live in Cape Town.

As the days and band announcement went on, Lani the rocker realised that there is no way she could ever miss this. She is currently asleep under the magic spell of a luck potion that she acquired from a witch in the North. The only way to wake her up is if she wins the ticket to Freedom Fest 2015.
