They only started signing local acts late last year but Warner Music South Africa has just upgraded their local repertoire up to five. While the label announced that Josh Kempen joins their stable just last week, today they announce the signing of house artists ZakEmo – and his music is coming sooner than you think!
You may remember ZakEmo as a finalist on SABC’s hit show ‘1’s and 2’s’ and is the leading member of a collective of four young producers, known as the EmoBoys. What’s really interesting about the star is that he produces, DJs and plays live drums – making him stand out of the crowd.
ZakEmo’s debut single with the label ‘Ingane Zabantu’ will be released shortly followed by his debut album ‘Dance Affairs’ on the fifth of August. The album features collaborations with some of the freshest new names on the South African House scene – vocalists Poncho M, D.O.G, Linkeng and Vic Sambo and co-producer, Ex Plosive, to name a few. Naturally, he will be performing at multiple venues around the country in support of his debut album later this year.
“I have watched my peers succeed in the industry, but it was not till now, that I really prepare and look forward to seeing what comes in the future,” ZakEmo says on his signing to the major label. Tracy Fraser, MD of Warner Music South Africa says “As humble as he is incredibly talented, we are delighted to be working with ZakEmo. ‘Dance Affairs’ is the start of something really special.”
