Jack White is finally coming to South Africa! The Grammy Award-winning musician, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist will bring his acclaimed live show to local audiences for the first time ever this December, with two highly anticipated performances in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Presented by BreakOut Events, White will perform at The Old Park Station in Johannesburg on Friday, Dec. 11, before heading to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town on Monday, Dec. 14.
General public tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. SAST on Wednesday, Sept. 9 via Webtickets, with a Laylo presale beginning at 10 a.m. SAST on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
For South African fans who have followed White’s career for more than two decades, the shows represent a long-awaited opportunity to experience one of modern rock’s most distinctive and compelling live performers on home soil.
White first rose to international prominence as one half of The White Stripes, alongside Meg White. The duo’s stripped-back, blues-infused take on rock helped reshape the sound of the early 2000s, while songs including “Seven Nation Army” became defining anthems of a generation.
But White has never been an artist content to stay in one place. Following The White Stripes, he expanded his musical world through The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, before embarking on an increasingly acclaimed solo career.
Across albums including Blunderbuss, Lazaretto, Boarding House Reach, Fear of the Dawn, Entering Heaven Alive and No Name, White has continued to move freely between blues, rock, garage, punk, folk and experimental sounds, consistently refusing to be boxed into a single genre.
His latest studio album, Frozen Charlotte, is another chapter in that evolution, showcasing an artist who remains as creatively restless and unpredictable more than 20 years after he first exploded onto the global music scene.
That restless spirit is perhaps best experienced live. White’s performances are renowned for their intensity, musicianship and spontaneity, with setlists drawing from across his career — from The White Stripes to The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, alongside his solo catalogue.
Now, for the first time, South African audiences will get to experience it for themselves.
Two decades into a career that has made him one of the most influential figures in modern rock, Jack White’s first South African tour promises to be an unforgettable meeting between one of rock’s great live performers and an audience that has been waiting a long time to see him on stage.
