Beyonce did it back in December and now rock legends U2 surprised the world with their brand new album ‘Songs of Innocence’ – but there’s a catch. As Apple announced it’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, the brand also did something extraordinary. They have partnered with the band for the biggest album release party in history.
U2’s ‘Songs of Innocence’ is available now on their 119 stores around the world as a free download. The album will be exclusive to iTunes, iTunes Radio and Beats Music until the 13th of October after which it will be released everywhere. Anyone who signs up to the iTunes Store in the next five weeks will receive a copy, as well.
U2 and Apple have a longstanding relationship that goes back to at least 2004, when Apple released a limited-edition U2 iPod at the same time as the band’s album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb hit stores. Lead singer Bono also created the Project Red charity, of which Apple has been a partner since its inception in 2006.
This is so cool and it seems like they fast-forwarded 20 years and we’re witnessing the evolution of music. Head over to the iTunes store right now and get your download. Mine is downloading as we speak!
