Terry Pheto’s star keeps shining brighter and brighter. Next month the star appears in the highly-anticipated new film ‘A United Kingdom’ and the star has already received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the British Independent Film Award for her incredible portrayal of Naledi Khama in the film.
The British Independent Film Awards recognises the best, most innovative and creative independent filmmaking and filmmakers involved in films originating in the UK and serves to identify and encourage emerging talent, support and celebrate the independent film community.
The film, based on the book ‘Colour Bar’ by Susan Williams, tells the true story of the sweeping interracial love that shook the British establishment between the first president of Botswana, Sir Seretse Khama and the British woman he loved, Ruth Williams.
“We congratulate Terry on her nomination. The nomination is well deserved as she gives a superb performance as Naledi Khama in the film,” Sanjeev Singh, Videovision Entertainment’s Director of Acquisition and Distribution, said on the star’s nomination. Joining Terry in the film is David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, Abena Ayivor, Vusi Kunene, Donald Molosi, Motshereganyi Sefanyetso and Letsomo la Tshipa.
A United Kingdom will be released in South Africa, Botswana and East and West Africa on 9 December 2016.
