Review: Taken 3

He’s back for one last round. But can he save the franchise?

Starring: Liam Neeson and Forest Whitaker

Plot: Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose long-awaited reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.

Remarks: The first film in the ‘Taken’ franchise clearly took the world by storm but when the sequel released back in 2012, people weren’t too impressed. This time, however, Liam Neeson is back in the franchise’s last film and managed to save the storyline. Taken 3 sees Bryan running from a crime he didn’t commit, while trying to save his daughter. While no one was necessarily taken, Liam managed to keep us entertained with his impressive fighting skills, car chases and plot twists. The film, however, lacked the ‘umph’ of the first film in the franchise. That being said, Liam is such a great actor and if you’re keen to watch a movie filled with action, this is one for you!

Rating: 3.5/5

Taken 3 releases on January 16th, 2015.
