Review: Nick Jonas – Nick Jonas (Deluxe Edition)

Nick Jonas
Nick Jonas (Deluxe Edition) (Universal Music)

Breakdown: Former Jonas Brother, Nick Jonas, is back with his second solo album. The record was preceded by the smash hit ‘Jealous’ which climbed to the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as singles ‘Chains’ and ‘Teacher’. The album is a more mature sound from Nick and features collaborations with the likes of Demi Lovato, Angel Haze and Mike Posner.

How Many Good Tracks: 12 of the 14.

What I Liked: I think Nick Jonas has been struggling to find a sound that fits him perfectly over the past few years, but I think this may be it. Nick sounds so comfortable on each and every track on this record. Sure, not every song on the album is good but overall, I’m quite impressed with this. Nick pushes himself on the album and wanted to create a perfect album and that, to me, is the definition of a great artist. The album is filled with sexy R&B bangers and the producers did a great job translating this. If you weren’t a fan before, this album will change that.

What I Didn’t Like: Firstly, why the hell did Nick not ass his ‘Jealous’ remix with Tinashe as a bonus track?! Besides his clear vocal struggles on some tracks, there’s not much that I didn’t enjoy about this record. It’s R&B heaven!

Best Track: ‘Jealous’ is a clear winner but there’s something so special about ‘Push’.

Rating: 4/5
