Jimmy Nevis
The Masses (David Gresham Records)
Breakdown: After the success of his debut album ‘Subliminal’, local crooner Jimmy Nevis is back with his second studio album titled ‘The Masses’. The record was released alongside the two lead singles off the project ‘Misscato’ and ‘Day Dream (Last Night)’. The album is a brilliant mix of pop and R&B and paired with Jimmy’s smooth and effortless vocals, this turned out to be one great record.
How Many Good Tracks: 8 of the 10.
What I Liked: Despite what you would think after hearing the album’s lead single ‘Misscato’, this album has some catchy pop tracks. Jimmy put a lot of time and effort in creating each of the tracks on the record – all of which were written by him. Jimmy’s voice is also so beautiful and he has learned a lot of control and how to use his instrument better since the release of the lead record. Also, instrumentally, the album explores more sounds and flavours than ever before which is both a good and bad thing.
What I Didn’t Like: Firstly, I wish the album had a bit more than 10 tracks. I’m all about value for money and every time I get an album with only 10 tracks, I feel a bit cheated. The tracks are also not the most radio friendly, as you saw with Misscato, which could hamper the success of the album. That being said, this is Jimmy Nevis on a plate and that’s a beautiful thing.
