One Direction fans around the world are still mourning the fact that the group is going on a long hiatus this year and although we don’t know when we can expect new music from the band, the boys have surprised us with their last music video from ‘Made In The AM’ for their new single ‘History’ which reminds us of their journey so far.
The song is a mid-tempo guitar driven track that is about the band’s relationship with their fans. Everyone knows that Directioners are one of the most loyal fan bases around and it’s lovely to see that the band delivered a nostalgic video as they ease into their first extended break in five years. The video takes us on their journey from The X Factor auditions, Simon Cowell, Zayn Malik, their past music videos, screaming fans and some new scenes here and there.
While the song is the perfect closing track for this chapter of the band’s life, I’m not sold on it as a single choice. The track is incredibly predictable and is far from the best on the album. This, however, seems to be a trend with the band. I think the band needs this break not only to have time for themselves, but to also plan the next phase of One Direction because we’d like to hear something a bit different from them next time around. In the meantime, we’ll just tear up watching this awesome new video.
