If you’re a fan of dance music, you must have come across Saubomb! The DJ duo, consisting of Jevan Binder and Jason Saus, exploded onto the scene recently and has become firm favourites at many clubs around the country. I caught up with Saubomb’s Jevan who tells us about their DJ career, brand new original music and what the future holds.
Where did your passion for music start?
I think for us our passion has always been from the actual music, both Jason and I have always been involved in the industry whether it be promoting, performing or just attending events. I think when I visited Miami for Miami music week and winter music conference was when I decided that this was a profession I could see myself making a living from, they say “If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life” which for me is spot on, I love music I love the creativity behind it, I love the countless people I meet on a daily basis and the fact that I get to entertain people gives me such an immense sense of accomplishment and responsibility.
There are many DJ’s on the scene at the moment. What is unique about you guys?
I think our approach to our sound has always been unique, whether it’s a high energy festival set or a small club setting we are extremely good at playing to a crowd and ultimately leaving them with a euphoric feeling after our set. We like pushing the barriers of our sound a lot and mixing it up during our live sets. In this day and age a DJ needs to be able to deliver a world-class experience to their crowd each and every time.
What’s the biggest misconception of being a DJ?
There are so many misconceptions, for me I think the biggest one is that people only see you at an event behind the decks, there is so much time and effort put in behind the scenes. We spend countless hours searching for new music, producing our own music, doing admin, PR, social networking and so much more. There really is a great amount of effort that goes on behind the scenes.
Can we expect some original Saubomb music to hit our airwaves soon?
We are in the process of finishing off over ten tracks, which we will be sending out to the relevant people shortly. We have been gearing up to release music of our own for well over a year. We are currently experimenting with a few different sounds and genres and we need to give our fans something that speaks to them with our own unique twist on things. What we are most excited about is the people we are currently working with on some of the tracks, incredible new raw talent, which we cannot wait to give to our fans.
What else can we expect from you guys over the next few months?
We are in the process of finalizing some overseas shows, which we hope will be confirmed shortly. We’ve also just started our new radio residency at 947, which we’re super stoked about! We also have our #TillSunrise brand. We have always felt that by us throwing our own events under this name allows us to give fans an experience within the genres we really enjoy, so you can expect a couple of those events to be popping up shortly with a host of new talent on the line up as well as unchartered venues that we have been scouting for the past couple of months. We like doing different things which in today’s times is what people are craving.
