Monark – Falling

The local English pop market is a competitive field. Not only are artists competing with each other, but they’re competing with international pop artists such as Justin Bieber, P!nk, One Direction, Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga and many more in terms of radio play and sales. Therefore it’s understandable why this genre isn’t flourishing like the others. There comes a time, however, where a local act is so good that not only can they compete with international artists – they dominate the charts doing so. Monark is a prime example of this.

The band have done amazing things with their debut album Negatives, which spawned the smash hits Hush and You Make, and the band have announced that they will be rereleasing the record with some brand new material including their new single Falling. Monark have found a comfortable space in our local industry and they’re dominating it. The new single reminds us of something Maroon 5 would release – the guitar, the beat and especially Eugene Coetzer’s high vocals on the chorus.

The song ticks all the boxes and is bound to be another smash for the band. The boys understand how to write and produce a pop record and the proof is in the pudding. The song is incredibly radio friendly and we can’t wait to see it top the charts. Monark’s new album Negatives (Deluxe Edition) drops tomorrow, so make sure you support local music and get yourself a copy!
