Finally! After years of waiting, the queen of rap, Missy Elliott, has finally dropped her comeback single! The rapper premiered her first music video since 2008’s Ching-A-Ling and reminded the world why she has had such a fruitful career. The track, titled WTF (Where They From) serves as the official lead single off her upcoming seventh studio album – one we have been waiting almost 10 years for!
The song is exactly the comeback we were hoping from Missy. The song has 2015 written all over it but still manages to keep the identity Missy has created over the years. Despite a banging beat, Missy is known for her lyrics and doesn’t disappoint on this track. While there hasn’t been much growth since her previous material, it’s clear that Missy is bringing back the heat.
Oh, and what’s a new Missy Elliott single without a kick-ass music video? As always, the dancing is on point in the music video and is jam-packed with some insanely talented kids, some rather interesting outfit choices, some hoverboard action and some spot on puppets! We’re digging this song already and we can’t wait to see what else Missy has in store for us this time around.
