Luyolo Yiba Wins Idols South Africa

The 15th season of Idols South Africa has officially come to a monumental end where viewers voted frontrunner Luyolo Yiba as the season’s winner. The star beat out KwaZulu-Natal’s Sneziey Msomi in a nail-biting finale which took place at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena.

The 24-year-old software developer from King William’s Town auditioned in Cape Town, and week after week captured the imagination of Idols fans as the dark horse who progressed to be a true contender for the Idols title, ultimately emerging victorious.

As this season’s winner, Yiba has won a recording deal from Gallo, and also becomes an instant millionaire, with R1m in cash and a Ford Fiesta, among other prizes. The Idols finale was a spectacular affair that pulled out all the stops to showcase this year’s talent, and the exceptional star quality of 2019’s Top 2 in particular.

The Top 2 performed reminded us once again why they had made it this far, with Yiba performing Legend’s Green Light, accompanied by the Mzansi Gay Choir, while Msomi performed Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse’s Burnout. The two also performed a duet, You are the Reason by Leona Lewis and Calum Scott. The Idols finale also saw performances by the likes of DJ Zinhle, Samthing Soweto, Boity, Vusi Nova, Sho Majozi and Season 14 winner Yanga in what will go down in history as a monumental moment for the show.
