What? South Africa’s jaw dropped during tonight’s episode of Idols South Africa when Lungisa Xhamela was found to have received the lowest amount of votes this week, making him the first male to leave this season’s Top 10! Over 5.5 million votes were cast this week which saw Lungisa battle it out with Siphelele as to who will bid the competition farewell this evening. Lungisa is incredibly passionate about music and even gave up his studies in medical bioscience at the University of the Western Cape this year to give his dream his all – especially for the sake of his two-year-old daughter who lives with his parents in Port Elizabeth. “I got everything I wanted from this experience – and more …” he commented as he came off stage tonight. “This competition has opened up so many doors for me, and I’m excited to get out there and get my career started.”
Tonight’s result was met with mixed emotions. Some thought Lungisa didn’t have what it takes to be an Idol while others wanted to see him grow more on the show.
HAAAAA????!!! Not Lungisa! #idolsSA
