It’s a massive day for Beyoncé. The Disney live-action adaptation of ‘The Lion King’, where she voices Nala, is out in cinemas around the world today and to compliment the release of the album, she’s released a brand-new album titled ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ which is now available to download or stream everywhere.
The compilation album features her new material with contributions from artists including her co-star Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino), her daughter Blue Ivy Carter and South African acts Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.
Speaking about the project, Beyoncé says that “I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it.” Beyoncé described that the African influenced album has “a lot of the drums, the chants, all of these incredible new sounds mixed with the producers from America,” adding that they “kind of created our own genre.”
