It’s been a big year for Jason Goliath. Not only has the comedian performed on stages around the world but he has also launched the incredible Roast Café and The Goliath Comedy Club in Melrose Arch with partners Donovan Goliath, Nick Goliath and Kate Goliath. However, the comedian has announced that he is taking his career to the next level as he officially becomes the host of SABC 3’s new late-night talk show ‘Larger Than Life’.
Jason will now host an entertainment-based in-studio comedy talk show on SABC 3 titled ‘Larger Than Life’ that will focus on celebrity interviews with a live studio audience and aims to provide viewers with the best medicine one could attain: laughter.
“I’m incredibly excited for the platform and look forward to getting under the skin and finding the funny bones of SA celebrities. South African comedy is up there with the best in the world and I hope to amplify that locally,” Jason tells us about the new show. The show has a few surprises in store and both the SABC and Jason hope to change the face of late-night TV in the country.
Jason has been hard at work building his brand over the past five years after starting comedy as a hobby five years ago. Now, the Goliath and Goliath brand is bigger than ever and the country can’t seem to get enough of his infectious attitude towards life and his big personality.
One of his biggest achievements is opening up a premium comedy club back in April this year. The club is designed to give local acts an international quality stage and environment to showcase and enhance their craft while hopefully attracting international acts to South Africa. Creating a hub and home for comedy in South Africa with the right partners is the goal for the Goliath and Goliath team.
“We don’t want to restrict it to ‘pure’ stand up as we know it, but explore creativity as Africans and South Africans. Our number one objective was to build a stage where every comedian in the world would love to play. Helping us attract international artists and also giving local artists an international quality stage,” says Goliath. The Goliath Comedy Club comprising of all four Goliath’s in association and collaboration with Tony Raciti, owner of The Venue Melrose Arch, has been very successful in creating and positioning the club and Melrose Arch as the premium comedy and lifestyle destination in Africa.
SABC 3 is expanding their range of local content to fit 80% of the channel’s content – and talk shows will be dominating the channel on a daily basis. Along with Expresso, Afternoon Express and Larger Than Life, the SABC have confirmed that Anele Mdoda will also be the star of a new talk show. The show will feature topical social commentary on current events, entertaining and informative interviews from SA’s top celebs, entertainers, sporting figures, web celebs and online influencers. Khanyi Mbau and Phat Joe will also be bringing their flair to TV as the SABC announced that they will host a three-hour morning show titled The Weekend Edition. The show will offer style, personality, interaction, active digital and social media discourse and creativity.
Jason’s brand new show bursts onto our screens from Monday the fourth of July at 22h00 on SABC 3.
“Larger than life”… Jason whatever is an absolute disaster! What a tragedy for the human race….is this for real ??? It’s not informative, intellectual or even funny! It’s an insult to all viewers.
Please pardon my distaste for this program….surely SABC can top this ?
