There’s a new name on the international pop front that I have really been enjoying over the past few months. American singer, Jake Miller, dropped his new EP ‘Overnight’ earlier this year and now, he’s chosen the title track as the next official single off the project.
Like many pop stars in this day and age, Jake effortlessly blends elements of R&B into his music. The song shows us a more melodic side of Jake whose debut album was more rap-focused. I love the tone of his voice. Jake has something really special and I’m glad he’s showcasing this more melodically. The song’s production is awesome! There are many subtle sounds and vocal tweaking used and each element adds so much to the track. I do, however, think the production is too excessive at parts where the singer’s voice should be the star.
Jake dropped the video to the track this week which features Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles as Jake’s love interest. “It’s one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever made,” Jake said recently. “I think if I had the option, I’d probably do a remix to ‘Overnight’ with Ariana Grande. It’s a cool, sexy song, so I feel like the chemistry between us would be really cool on the song.” The song is fantastic and I really hope this is the one that helps catapult Jake into superstardom. Jake’s new EP is out now and it’s one of my favourite releases this year so be sure to check it out.
