South African pop duo, Isle Of Skye, burst onto the scene earlier this year with their debut single Gold. The track was a smash hit and charted on several radio charts around the country. However, while the song still slays the airwaves, the boys have just dropped their brand new single Guilty which features additional vocals from 2Lee Stark.
The track slows things down a bit but still packs a mean punch in the chorus. The production is a lovely mix of pop, hip-hop and electronic music but on a simplistic level. The production stays in its lane and doesn’t distract the listener from the vocals – something that doesn’t happen too often in pop music these days. I like the rap 2Lee Stark brought to the table but I feel he was introduced to the song too early.
The truth is, the South African pop scene isn’t as strong as it should be. However, Isle of Skye proves that local pop music can be of international standard. The song drops everywhere today so make sure you support the boys by buying the song on iTunes today.
