HRVY On His Whirlwind South African Trip: “I Can’t Wait To Have A Good Steak With Pap And Chakalaka”

English pop star HRVY is in South Africa all of this week shooting two music videos for two brand-new tracks premiering next year and while the singing sensation isn’t able to fully experience everything South Africa has to offer during his short trip to Mzansi because of his chaotic work commitments, the star tells us that he’s looking forward to experiencing some delicious cuisine while he’s here.

“I am really disappointed that I won’t be able to experience all that South Africa has to offer sightseeing wise. It’s a bummer but it is what it is. I would have loved to do a safari or to have flown somewhere to experience some of the wildlife South Africa is famous for. But, I am looking forward to experiencing the food. I heard that the steaks and meats are really good here so I can’t wait to try a good steak. I also heard some really good things about pap and chakalaka so I am looking forward to trying that.”

HRVY has also experienced load shedding for the first time during his trip to South Africa as Eskom continues to implement power cuts around the country. “It’s crazy to think that you don’t get power for four hours at a time here,” he says. “We don’t get that in the UK so it’s been really interesting to experience.”

The singer has also explained that he has seen South African fans reaching out on social media and he hopes to come back in 2020 to play a couple of shows and do some meet and greets with some of his South African fans. “I really like doing these meet and greets and getting up close and personal with people who have connected to my music,” HRVY says. “I have seen the love I have been getting from my South African fans and I really hope to do something a little more intimate next time I am here.”

However, after filming wraps on the two music videos, HRVY hopes to spend the festive season relaxing with his loved ones. “2019 has been an incredible but busy year. South Africa is the 28th country I have visited this year so I am looking forward to switching off for a little bit and spending time with my family during the holidays,” the singer says.
