The grand opening of Johannesburg’s first H&M store in only two days away, but last night, celebrities and media were invited to a VIP shopping event like no other to celebrate the brand’s expansion into South Africa. It was an extra-special night because it was also the worldwide launch of the prestigious H&M x Balmain range that has had everyone talking so these guests were one of the first in the world to buy this collection.
Naturally, a VIP event is nothing without some champagne, delicious snacks and some banging music – and H&M ticked each of those boxes! Celebrities were out in full force exploring the brand’s current summer range at the 2700 square meter store. To help celebrate, DJ Zinhle, Locnville and Black Coffee made sure that the party was going on until way past midnight.
H&M have a great collection. Not only are their prices really reasonable, but their products are different and fashionable. The store is huge and has a massive women, mens and kids range, which is really important – especially from a brand like this. If you’re hoping to get your hands on some of the H&M x Balmain range, make sure you get there early. The initial batch of female product at the event was sold out in just over an hour (luckily, they brought out more stock later on in the evening). If last night was any indication, this range is going to fly off the shelves.
I’m so excited about the H&M brand opening in Johannesburg. I think it’ll put a competitive edge on the local fashion market – something we’ve been needing desperately. H&M Sandton City opens this Saturday (7 November) so make sure you’re there!
