Whenever Elandré drops new music, you know he’s got something exciting up his sleeve. The multi-award-winning singer and songwriter is back with a brand-new dancefloor hit, “Skud” (Shake) – the first single from an exciting new album set to be released later this year.
After the success of his first English EP in 2024, Elandré is once again taking the lead – this time straight to the dancefloor. ‘Skud’, penned by Elandré himself and produced by Aitsa Award-winning producer, Graaff, is nothing less than an energetic celebration of freedom, movement, and music.
‘Skud’ is a return to the dancefloor – a place I’ve missed,”” says Elandré. “My first time in a club changed me and set me free. I wanted to capture that feeling in sound and colour.”
The song was inspired by an unforgettable night in Australia while Elandré was on tour. It was his birthday, and everything just felt right – the music, the friends, the dancing. “It was the best night ever,” he says. “‘Skud’ is built to keep you on the dancefloor. The dreamers are going to dance to this one! Afrikaners love to dance, we know how to have a good time, and this song is on a mission to entertain and entice,”” he says. “”I hope people hear the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s synth-pop sound and appreciate it.”
Along with the song, a visual feast is also offered in the form of a cinematic music video – produced by Christian Wolf, the creative mind behind the music videos for ‘Vuur op die Water’ and ‘Tussen die Lakens. The video presents Elandré as a ‘musicality salesman’ – a corporate dance commander who transforms a boring meeting into a spontaneous dance party. “The production was ambitious and involved several locations, technicians, dancers, and my supporters,”” says Elandré. “”We used Heartfelt Arena, Spotify, and WeWork in Rosebank as sets – they opened their doors for us, and I’m grateful.” The dance moves were choreographed with Liam Anthony, and eight energetic dancers from the Tailormade Group bring the energy to the screen. Several loyal supporters also play roles in the video – making the project even more personal.
Known for his versatility, Elandré recently also released ‘Iemand Soos Jy’ with Demi Lee Moore, proving that he is just as comfortable with heartfelt ballads as he is with dancefloor hits.
With ‘Skud,’ Elandré shows that he is not only a master of lyric and melody but also a natural entertainer who knows how to get an audience moving – on the dancefloor and beyond.
