The phrase ‘Own your throne’ has been a formidable sense of direction for local media personality and rapper Boity. She uses it in her social media bio, it’s the name she gave her well-received reality show and now, unsurprisingly, she’s put the message the phrase speaks into song as she drops her highly-anticipated new single.
Part independent woman anthem and part braggadocious-banger, this infectious single has all the ingredients for another hit under Boity’s name. Proudly proclaiming her rap career is “looking hella permanent” she’s clearly in her bag, with one of her now trademark monologues foreshadowing the bravado in her verses.
In the song, Boity crowns herself the Connie Fergurson of the rap game and her powerful message continues to resonate with her audience.
Meanwhile, Boity continues to make waves in the local hip-hop space with just three singles out. The rapper recently signed to the just-launched Def Jam Records Africa and we have a feeling that the best is yet to come when it comes to Boity’s musical domination.
