Angie Oeh Unpacks The Five New Tracks On Her ‘Mooiste Meisies’ EP

If there is one artist making major waves in the Afrikaans music space right now, it’s mumble rapper, Angie Oeh. When she made her debut on the scene, it took a while for many to get her. She makes statements through her music and isn’t a stranger to getting bullied for being brave enough to be herself and for demanding equality through her music.

At the end of 2021 her debut single, Dis Jou Wyfie, went viral on TikTok and attracted the right kind of attention. And in less than a year she has landed a coveted feature in a Jägermeister TVC, had her music synced in the Netflix series, Ludik, released two EPs and two music videos, recorded collabs with Jack Parow and Loufi and started playing large scale shows.

Her just-released EP ‘Mooiste Meisies’ features her new hit ‘Spicy’ and sees the star push herself more than ever before. We hear more depth, more vulnerability and a bit more of herself… and, of course, some lekker party anthems.

Now, she opens up about her five new tracks as she breaks down her ‘Mooiste Meisies’ EP:

1) Mooiste Meisies

“As with Sex in Afrikaans, Mooiste Meisies was written to provoke people and get attention in the ways we need to. I demand equality, even if I have to do it through a song,” says Angie. A music video for this track is also in the works.

2) Spicy

“It is a love song dedicated to the most beautiful, smartest and sweetest woman in existence.” This is also Angie’s favourite song on the EP. “It’s not just my favourite because it’s about my cherry, but also because the beat, lyrics and flow work so well together. It’s a funky ass song.”

3) Omdat Ek Wil

“This is a sadder song. I showcase my feelings low-key and sing more about myself. We can’t always be okay and that’s okay.”

4) Sys ‘n Hoe

“Sys ‘n Hoe is a lit song for my live sets. The feeling I get when that bass drops is amazing!”

5) M.O.

“M.O. is a dope song and a nice entryway into my new EP titled MOOISTE MEISIES. Although I sing about titties and booty’s, I also sing about my feelings. The line ‘al wat die mense soek is ‘n f*kken show nou’ means a lot to me, because people tend to forget that there is a human behind the persona. I hope everyone vibes with the beat, flow and lyrics as much as I do.”
