24-year-old Afrikaans pop star and rapper Angie Oeh has made a significant impact since her music debut just a few years ago. She has gone on to create an undeniable sound and has cemented a significant fan base. She is responsible for hit singles ‘Sex In Afrikaans’, ‘Spicy’, ‘Mooiste Meisies’ and her latest single ‘Vet Diamante’ was released in June this year.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Angie revealed that she has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and will undergo life-saving surgery today which will be followed by six months of chemotherapy.
“I am so fucking scared. Every time I have just a little time to think I cry like a pussy. How the fuck does something like this happen so fast without you even knowing or feeling it,” Angie said in the post. “Now I am so sick, I have to ask someone to give me a water bottle that is standing right next to me.”
She adds that the surgery and chemo will cost in excess of R200 000 – a cost she simply cannot afford. Angie called on her fans to help financially in any way that they can. “I have all the invoices and banking details of the account we use to pay them,” Angie shared.
A BackABuddy account has been set up so that fans can easily donate to the singer. Funds will be used continued treatment, check-ups, loss of income, and any other expenses she will incur over her recovery period.
