His final album was released just days after his brutal murder in February this year and, in the ultimate celebration of his life, AKA’s ‘Mass Country’ has reached platinum status. To celebrate this momentous milestone, the Forbes Family and VTH Season were presented with Platinum plaques by Sony Music Africa.
‘Mass Country’ reached Platinum in under four months, making it the fastest album to reach this prestigious status in South Africa for 2023. In doing so, ‘Mass Country’ has exceeded 35 404 units, which is equivalent to 40 972 588 streams in South Africa alone.
Some major announcements were made during the ceremony. Fans can expect a music video for ‘Sponono’ by AKA & Sjava featuring Baby S.O.N & 031 Choppa soon, as well as a deluxe version of ‘Mass Country’ that is on the way.
It was also announced that there will be a special AKA Tribute Performance at the upcoming 947 Joburg Day, and that AKA has been nominated for Best Southern African Artiste of The Year for the 2023 Headies!
