Afrikaans rapper Angie Oeh Dies At 24

Last week, Afrikaans rapper Angie Oeh revealed that she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and was set to undergo potential life-saving surgery. However, days after the operation, things turned for the worse and Angie (real name Angelique Eurika Greeff) passed away on Saturday, 19 August at Life Wilgers Hospital in Pretoria. She was only 24.

“It is very sad and very terrible to lose Angie at such a young age. Those who have met her or have worked with her, will know how wonderful and special she was. We are not only losing a South African gem, but also a very special friend and partner. I’ve had one of the biggest and most fulfilling opportunities in my life working with her. Her creativity, work ethic, lovingness and sincerity was tangible. Her music will live on and she will never be forgotten,” says Wynand Myburgh, Angie’s manager and close friend told Texx and the City.

Wynand added that Angie was surrounded by her loved ones, including her girlfriend Jolandri Van Der Walt, her mother, Peach van Pletzen, and close friends and collaborators in her final moments.

As news of Angie’s death started circulating, her family put out an official statement. Read it here:

A GoFundMe page was started shortly after the star confirmed her diagnosis asking for R200,000 to cover medical bills and any other expenses Angie may have while undergoing chemo. Close to R280,000 was raised before Angie passed away.

RIP, Angie. You made such a significant mark on the local music space in such a short time – and you will sorely be missed.
