There’s a quiet kind of honesty running through Ross Learmonth’s latest release. The kind that doesn’t demand attention, but stays with you long after the final note. On his new single ‘Days,’ the South African singer-songwriter leans fully into reflection, delivering one of his most personal offerings yet as his solo journey continues to unfold.
Following the momentum of ‘Ready To Dance,’ ‘Days’ shifts the tone inward. Where previous releases hinted at reinvention, this track settles into something more introspective. “The song is very special to me,” Learmonth shares. “It’s an ode to my younger self in a way — how the things we go through help make us who we are.” It’s a sentiment that anchors the track, which navigates the complicated terrain of memory, growth and the passage of time without ever slipping into cliché.
Built on vivid, almost cinematic imagery (childhood homes, carved names, backyard trees and conversations left unfinished), ‘Days’ captures that universal tension between who we were and who we’ve become. There’s nostalgia here, but it’s clear-eyed rather than romanticised. Learmonth doesn’t shy away from the harder truths either, acknowledging that sometimes we have to lose ourselves, even “wreck ourselves”, to fully understand our place in the world.
That emotional balance is what gives ‘Days’ its weight. It’s not just about looking back, but about doing so while standing firmly in the present. “It can be daunting to revisit the past,” Learmonth says, “but there’s also something beautiful in those memories. I hope people can see their own stories in the song, that it brings something back for them.”
The release marks another step in what has been a defining solo chapter for Learmonth. After a strong 2025 filled with charting singles and live performances, ‘Days’ feels like a natural evolution, peeling back another layer of an artist increasingly comfortable with vulnerability.
And while the track lingers in reflection, Learmonth’s focus is firmly on what’s next. “I’m working on a lot of new music,” he reveals. “Without giving too much away, I’m hopeful there’s a full-length album in the pipeline for the year.” It’s an exciting prospect, especially as his current trajectory suggests an artist not just finding his footing, but confidently shaping his own lane.
“I’ve enjoyed the journey that has gotten me here,” he adds. “And now I’m more than ready to continue carving out the path that’s meant for me.”
With ‘Days,’ Ross Learmonth isn’t just revisiting the past, he’s using it as a compass for what comes next.
