Mi Casa’s fifth studio album is jam-packed with hit after hit. Singles ‘Church Bells’, ‘Chucks’ and ‘Mamela’ and ‘Eve’ have already proven to be incredibly successful, but the group isn’t slowing down anytime soon as they pick ‘Obsessed’ as the next single off the project.
Mi Casa have never been an act to play it safe and inject groovy house beats alongside Latin influences for a song that quickly grabs the attention of the listener.
Vocalist J’Something says that “’Obsessed’ reminds me of another song of ours titled ‘All The Glory’. From a drum perspective it’s there. It’s groovy, it’s hard but then the soulfulness comes in through the keys, through the horns and through the vocals. We express ourselves through our music.”
He adds that the song is incredibly personal to him and while he always used to sing songs he had written himself, with ‘Obsessed’, J’Something did a little more experimenting in the studio. “One of the things I wanted to do on this album was co-write. I wanted to get into somebody else’s mind and build upon what they are hearing and what they are feeling. Getting to do that with someone I had worked with before I made music with Mi Casa was great.”
On the production element, Dr Duda explains that “One of the things that I remember about the making of ‘Obsessed’ is sitting in the lounge and the first thing I thought of was the brass line and how it would fit perfectly [on the production] of the song.” He adds “But it had to have the trombone and saxophone which is your alto, soprano and tenor and a trumpet and that’s what I had in mind.”
The song has been well received by fans and radio stations across the county and is set to be another monster hit for the eclectic group.
