Sketchy Bongo knows how to make a hit. On his latest single ‘The Moment’, the producer tapped vocalist Jimmy Nevis and rapper Emtee and as the track continues to make waves on both radio and streaming charts, the producer has dropped the official music video for the track.
Directed by Rob Dos Santos, the video is a literal representation of the moment – a moment of 3 musical maestros – a producer, rapper and singer / songwriter. Shot in a dim light setting with lyrics being the focal point of the video, Rob, brilliantly captures the moment of a beautifully captured collaboration.
“I’ve always wanted my music to be the focus of my career as opposed to me and I think the video captures the essence of who I am. I’m grateful to both Emtee and Jimmy for hopping onto this track, especially because this is the first time people get to see the other side of Emtee as a vocalist rather than a rapper.” Sketchy says.
Always one to push boundaries, Sketchy Bongo says that the song has been a long time coming – and he’s glad it’s been received so well throughout the country.
“Jimmy and I met in Cape Town in 2019 to work on some music and we came up with an early version of ‘The Moment,’” Sketchy tells us. “It was already sounding great to us. Through the Covid lockdown we continued to work on the song over email, we changed the drums, Jimmy did new verses, and we got Emtee on the track as well, who gave it something extra to perfect the record. We made a hit record from different studios, in different cities, over the internet, and I think we hit a home run.”
