Our very own Ndlovu Youth Choir have been wowing audiences around the world as they take part in the latest season of the hit reality talent show ‘America’s Got Talent’. After proudly South African renditions of Vicky Sampson’s popular hit ‘My African Dream’ as well as Shakira and Freshlyground’s ‘Waka Waka’. This week, as they competed in the quarter finals, the choir, led by choir director Ralf Schmitt, performed a cover of U2’s ‘Beautiful Day’ and continued to show the world that they have what it takes to make it big.
This time, the group was dressed in pink and showed the judges and audience that they can give their own unique spin onto any song – not necessarily one associated with Africa already. The judges, again, gave praise to the orchestra for doing something different and excelling in it.
Being the quarter finals, the choir will need an exceptional amount of votes from the American public to progress onto the semi-finals of the competition. The group’s fate will be announced live on the results show tomorrow evening. South Africans are, unfortunately, unable to vote.
