Local pop star Yahto Kraft is a big personality with an even bigger voice. He has always been unapologetically himself and has used his platform to highlight the bits of his life that he deems important to him. Now, the singer returns with ‘Requiem’ – one of his most emotional singles to date.
The song was born from a place of heartache and loss that was endured by both Yahto and his co-writer MJ Fourie. Yahto explains that this heartache was replaced by a drive and ambition to create something beautiful.
Cleverly sampling Mozart’s “Lacrimosa”, producer Hendrik Joerges combined
swirling orchestral sounds with a pop drive to create something big and captivating.
“This song is a universal message. Everyone has or is bound to experience the loss of a relationship, be it platonic or romantic,” Yahto says of the song. “I want people to know that is okay to mourn the loss and that it is not your fault.”
