It’s the MTV Europe Music Awards this evening live from Rotterdam in The Netherlands and ahead of the glitz and the glamour, MTV and the EMAs have revealed the winners of some of the smaller categories from this year’s award show. The smaller categories includes Best African Act which went to Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
It’s been an incredible year for Wizkid who scooped up three awards at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards just two weeks ago in Johannesburg, and was honoured at the MOBO awards in London just 10 days ago. Wizkid beat fellow African nominees Alikiba, Black Coffee, Olamide and Cassper Nyovest and was unfortunately unable to be at the show to collect his award. Despite this, he posed a video message thanking MTV and his fans for the support.
The 2016 MTV EMAs will be hosted and feature a performance by Bebe Rehxa, with additional performances by The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Green Day, Kings of Leon, OneRepublic, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Shawn Mendes, DNCE, Lukas Graham and Zara Larsson, and appearances by G-Eazy, Charli XCX, Tinie Tempah, Idris Elba, Jaden Smith, Nina Dobrev, Deepika Padukone, Jourdan Dunn, Winnie Harlow and more.
