Wizkid Taps Tems For New Single ‘Essence’ – And Just Dropped A Stunning Visual To Accompany The Track

Wizkid is taking the world by storm with the release of his latest studio album ‘Made In Lagos’ and as the album continues to make waves around the world, the star drops ‘Essence’ with Tems as the next single off the project.

The visual, directed by DK, was filmed in Accra, Ghana and is a colourful celebration of Africa. The track finds Tems and Wiz longing for physical connection.

“Say I wanna leave you in the mornin’, but I need you now, yeah, yeah/ I find you, I give you all you needin’ I know you what you like/ I feel it comin’, time is of the essence, I tried to teach you/ But I’m gon’ need some lessons, I need to give it all. I tried to leave but I can’t/ I don’t know why, you’re the one. Turn me out of my mind,” Tems says in her sultry verse.

‘Made in Lagos’ is the longest charting album by a Nigerian artist on the Billboard World Albums chart for the new decade (2020) at 20 weeks and counting. The album is also the longest charting album by an African artist on the Worldwide and European Apple Music albums charts. The 14-track project includes features from an incredible group of chart-topping artists – Burna Boy, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R. Ella Mai and Starboy Entertainment’s youngest signee Terri.

Meanwhile, June marks the 10th anniversary of Wizkid’s debut album Superstar, which featured his breakout hit ‘Holla as Your Boy’.
