Both Willem Botha and Tarryn Lamb have been known to tug at our heart strings when it comes to their music so imagine our surprise (and delight) when we found out that the two would be performing a duet together. Now, their new single ‘‘n Liefde Soos Die’ has arrived – and it’s everything we thought it would be.
The single was launched last Friday and quickly shot to number one on the iTunes Afrikaans charts – proving fans are just into the single as we are. Willem and Tarryn showcase their incredible vocal range and exude emotion in the love track which makes it a beautiful piece of music to listen to.
“I am beyond overwhelmed with how everyone’s receiving this duet. You always wish for the best but when you get this much support you can’t help but feel so thankful for all the love,” Willem says about the response the song has received so far.
In the inspiration behind the track, Willem tells us that “I’ve always wanted to write a beautiful love song that people will want to play at weddings when the bride walks in or as a first song. Last year I wrote this song with Vaughan Gardiner and Hugo Ludik and for the first time I found a song that was real and honest and the perfect song to celebrate love with.”
Willem adds that when he wrote the song, he knew it had to be a duet – and he had one woman in mind. “I immediately wanted to do this song with Tarryn. We’ve been friends for a couple of years and I’ve always been a massive fan ever since she was in BlackByrd. She has one of the best vocals I have ever heard and we just get along great.”
The duo also paired the track with a music video which has been viewed 70 000 times since it’s release four days ago. “For the music video I wanted to do something special with and for my fans,” Willem continues. “They have been there for the last 14 years of my career so we launched a competition and ask people to send in their wedding videos. We received 100’s of entries and their videos are the story line of the video. It’s real with raw and honest emotions as they are the stars of the video.”
