Believe it or not, but it’s been three years since Will.I.Am dropped his previous album #willpower. The producer has been working hard in studio on his follow-up album which is due later this year and has finally dropped the lead single off the upcoming still-untitled project. The song, titled Boys & Girls, features singer Pia Mia and like many pop songs is a song about love and all it’s different forms.
“The girls wanna play with boys, and the boys wanna play girls/ And the girls wanna play with girls, boys wanna play with boys/ Oh boy don’t you love this world,” Pia Mia sings on the chorus. The song is one of the more open songs about sexuality and has been called one of the most important songs Will.I.Am has ever released. While the song has a beautiful message behind it, Will.I.Am still produced one banger single which is an instant earworm. The singer is a true artist and we forgot just how good he really is. Not only is his rap brilliant, the production is flawless and the video is awesome as well.
Will.I.Am’s upcoming album is expected to release on May 27, and reportedly includes collaborations with CL, Tinie Tempah, Sia, his band The Black Eyed Peas and more. After hearing this, we’re so excited to see what else the singer has planned for this album. If the songs are as good as this one, we’re in for a real treat.
